September Reflections: Finding Rituals in Stillness
Share
As the seasons shift, there’s a quiet invitation to slow down. The days begin to stretch a little longer, the air softens, and we find ourselves caught between the comfort of winter rituals and the first whispers of spring.
At Wax & Lye, we’ve always believed in the power of small rituals. Lighting a candle to mark the end of the day. Running a bath infused with soothing scents. Taking a mindful moment with a cup of tea, hands wrapped around the warmth. These simple practices create space for calm, grounding us in the present.
Seasonal Rituals
September is the perfect time to lean into ritual. For some, it’s fresh flowers on the table. For others, it’s swapping winter’s heavier fragrances for lighter, brighter scents. It could be as simple as taking a moment outdoors each day, noticing how the season slowly turns.
These rituals don’t have to be grand to be meaningful. In fact, it’s their simplicity that makes them so powerful.
Behind the Scenes
This month has looked a little different here at Wax & Lye. Many of you know my Mum recently passed away, and so the pace behind the scenes has slowed while I’ve taken time to navigate that loss. It means there hasn’t been as much making, planning, or launching as usual — but that’s okay. Sometimes pausing is part of the process, too.
The Christmas collection, which usually makes its debut in September, will be coming a little later this year. Thank you for your patience and kindness as I take the time needed to bring it together properly.
Looking Ahead
Even in quieter months, there are gentle things to look forward to. I’ve been sketching ideas, testing blends, and letting inspiration come in its own time. And as always, there will be small moments of beauty to share with you along the way.
For now, I hope you find your own rituals this September — whatever grounds you, comforts you, or brings you a spark of joy in the everyday - Kate x
